Someone from work who is a part-time DJ guilt-tripped me into going to his gig at a club. No one else from work was going. I was in the mood to be adventurous, though, plus he guilt-tripped me, so I decided to go even though I was decidedly alone. Nightlife in HK doesn't really get started till pretty late, and I got to Lan Kwai Fong (LKF) relatively early (11pm) so I thought I would text whoever I could find in my phone and maybe kill some time before my DJ friend's gig started (he was supposed to go on at 1am). I had met someone at an alumni happy hour a few weeks ago; he seemed really into going out and stuff, and he had asked for my number and texted me that week. So I thought I would text him and see what was up.
me: going out tonight? i just got to lkf area if you want to get a drink. if not catch u later
banker wanker: who is that
me: this is vivien from the harvard club thing a while back
bw: Oh, what's up? I'm going to lkf in 10
me: OK do u want to meet up?
*this was kind of a retarded unnecessary exchange to me, we should have just spoken on the phone. but it was a Saturday night after all.
bw: Why not? I'm going to mint. It's on hollywood street
me: I'm lost i don't know my way around do you mind showing me how to get there i'm at d'aguilar st right now
bw: Take a cab
W. T. F.
How about, No, asshole!
I decided to just walk around and try to familiarize myself with LKF instead of deal with his BS.
two hours later:
bw: Where are u?
me: I ran into some friends they wanted to go somewhere else sry
bw: No prob. Gonna be around for a while. Let's see each other at lkf later
Oh, so now you want to meet up? Take a cab, you rude asshole.
30 minutes later:
bw: Where are u now
me: In cliq near ca fitness might leave soon tho
20 minutes later:
bw: Let's go dancing...
Take a cab, asshole.
On Monday morning he had the temerity to email me:
subject: How are things going?
Hey Vivien,
What happened on Sat?
Could not find you.
How are things going?
How were your first days at work?
Best,
Banker Wanker
I haven't responded yet. Thoughts?

well, it wasn't clear from either of you whether you should meet each other at the place where you said you were. from my point of view, if i were the guy, i may interpret it as a situation where you were avoiding me by moving from place to place, which makes it hard to try to pin down one place to meet up.
personally, I would find it difficult that someone can't make up their mind to figure out where they're going, and the guy told you to go to mint after all, maybe he assumed that because he'd been there a little more often than you he thought it'd be a good place to have fun.
also, texting never conveys emotions, which is why i try to call, but he shouldn't have told you to take a cab.
