It's been 5 days and I've only paid for 1 meal

*In case you couldn't tell so far, this is not real-time reporting, because I've been really behind in my blog posts; this post is about 2 weeks behind. But I'm catching up. Interspersed with some random leftovers from college.

Work for the past two days has been fairly uneventful. So far in my Hong Kong adventure, the only adventuring I’ve really done is the gastronomical kind.
Food really IS better in Asia. The meat is more fresh, the flavors are more sharp, the breads are more fragrant, the fruit more crisp and sweet, the drinks and snacks more varied and better packaged…and the best part is, it all costs less. You can eat a very reasonable meal here for less than HK$30, which is less than US$5; and if you make a meal of street food, less than half of that.
The first day I arrived, I had “lunch” on the plane, and ate dinner with Julita.
The second day, I was treated to a “welcome lunch” at work and ate a Julita dinner with my friend.
The third day, I bought lunch with my co-workers, and ate a Julita dinner with the family.
The fourth day, I had a Julita lunch with the family, and was treated to a dinner with the family at one of the exclusive Hong Kong clubs (more on that later).
The fifth day, I tagged along with the family to a Sunday dim-sum brunch at another exclusive Hong Kong club, and enjoyed a Julita dinner.

Forget Lonely Planet and Let’s Go. This is the best way to be a budget traveler.

Yeah my host family in Brazil had an empregada cause everyone has them. It was awesome. She would wash my clothes every day and make me snacks and tea and meals. I'm pretty sure she was younger than me. She only spoke Portuguese but I'm pretty good with understanding food words hahah.
